Aviva directory review

Aviva directory is known by everybody in the industry. If you haven’t heard about Aviva directory, read this, this and this. You can also find out some things about Jeff, the owner of Aviva in this interview.

So, now that you know these things, lets move to the site itself.

Aviva owner has managed to gather some good articles. The most interesting to read was what he did in order to get his rankings back from Google (Aviva directory was banned by Google and unbanned after a long elaborated process). Also, a lot of value has the page where Jeff presents the best web directories in order of their page strengh, a grade calculated by the seomoz guys (which lately is called trifecta and you need to be a member to see it – that sucks).

Aviva directory looks really nice, a well known designer of directory templates was hired by Jeff on dp forum (although I wouldn’t recommend him now). Good category index, lots of listings = great resource. Still I haven’t got a link on Aviva. That is for 2 reasons:

1. Aviva doesn’t offer a standard permanent plan and the yearly regular price is a little too much for me.

2. The subcategory where I want to submit my site is very crowded:

http://www.avivadirectory.com/Computers-and-Internet/Internet/Searching/Directories/ – over 100 external links. That is because Aviva hasn’t got pages option implemented. There is no “page 2″, “page 3″ and so on. This is obviously a minus (I mean, even Google or Yahoo dir have pages).

Aviva has, atm, over 550k inlinks, as I see in Yahoo. That is a great number, considering that Aviva was started in mid 2005.  Overall, I sense that Aviva is a good directory with nice and supportive owner.

Accepts inner pages: yes

Owner: Jeff – a nice guy

Time to get accepted: 2-3 days the most I guess, don’t know for sure

Good points: Has authority and according to Alexa, good traffic. Has valuable listings that are reviewed a few time a year, great number of backlinks.

Bad points: small PR because of the recent ban thing, a blog with just a few posts, not very updated, no pages.

Recommendations: Good investment for serious businesses.
